Jens Besser is a visual artist, curator and author. His drawings, prints and photographs have been displayed in solo and group exhibitions in Germany and abroad. During his travels across Europe, Latin America and Asia, Besser left behind several official and unofficial works of art in public spaces. Large-format murals were commissioned in cities such as Sofia, Bulgaria, Santiago de Chile, Taichung (Taiwan), Ayia Napa (Cyprus) and Heerlen (Netherlands). His exhibitions “Muralismo Morte” (2009), “About the Nightshift” (2010), and “Conceptual Vandalism” (2012) received much attention and stimulated lively discussion in the urban art scene. As a curator, Besser has organized projects and exhibitions across Europe. Since 2014, he has been co-managing the LackStreicheKleber urban art festival. He is also the local advisor in Dresden for the Magic City project committee. Besser is a regular contributor to urban art publications and is the author of the book “Muralismo Morte – The Rebirth Of Muralism In Contemporary Urban Art.”
For this Art of the Street Episode we have talked to curator and street artist Jens Besser from Dresden and watched him painting on his artwork at Magic City. His finished work you can find on the grand plaza right next to Andy K´s piece.
